Bike Riding
|
|
I went bike riding when I came home yesterday, at one of the local bicycle trails. I took a couple of pictures. They aren't much.

Elora, Ontario
|
|
My wife, the girls and I went for a day-trip to Elora, Ontario. It's west of Toronto, and is nice small town. It's known for its Elora Gorge -- which we didn't see.

Stratford II
|
|
My wife, the girls and I went to Stratford back on July 31st. Here are some photographs that were taken. These are mostly from the Shakespeare Garden.
The week before this, my wife and I were in Stratford to see the Midsummer's Night Dream -- thought it was a nice place to come back to with the girls.

Clouds from my balcony
|
|
WHEN I GO ALONE AT NIGHT
by: Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941)
WHEN I go alone at night to my love-tryst, birds do not sing, the wind does not stir, the houses on both sides of the street stand silent.
It is my own anklets that grow loud at every step and I am ashamed.
When I sit on my balcony and listen for his footsteps, leaves do not rustle on the trees, and the water is still in the river like the sword on the knees of a sentry fallen asleep.
It is my own heart that beats wildly -- I do not know how to quiet it.
When my love comes and sits by my side, when my body trembles and my eyelids droop, the night darkens, the wind blows out the lamp, and the clouds draw veils over the stars.
It is the jewel at my own breast that shines and gives light. I do not know how to hide it.
Photographs taken yesterday.

These were taken one year ago on a summer trip my wife and I took to Southampton, Ontario -- Southampton is on Lake Huron, and is a great place to relax.

Tall Ship Kajama
|
|
Moored at Toronto's Harbourfront.
Sea-Fever
by John Masefield
I must down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,
And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea's face and a grey dawn breaking.
I must down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.
I must down to the seas again to the vagrant gypsy life.
To the gull's way and the whale's way where the wind's like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.

Wild Thing
|
|
Wild Thing
The wild thing is cautious.
The wild thing is free.
The wild thing is illusive.
Like the wild thing in me.
When wild things gather,
it is to hunt, breed or fight
When wild things repose,
it is to preen in delight.
The wild thing reacts,
on instinct and stealth.
The wild thing stays strong,
it cares for its health.
The wild thing has senses,
that surpass what is seen.
The wild thing has motive,
to stay lean and mean.
The wild thingâ??s not anxious,
itâ??s actions arenâ??t planned.
It simply reacts,
to the matter at hand.
To catch the wild thing,
is a sport to some.
To master the wild thing,
for me; yet to come.
Since I am a wild thing,
You know where Iâ??ll be;
In the mountains and the valleys,
where wild things are free.
